S.A.F.E, Sequatchie's Addiction Free Environment, is one of many programs Bill has in store to be run out of the Sequatchie County Sheriff's Office. This program will be a massive resource program for everyone from the addict looking for help to their loved ones who don't know what to do or where to turn for help when they first learn of their addiction crisis. It will also involve the schools through our S.R.O. Program as well as the aggressive actions the department will take in enforcing state and federal drug laws where needed. As part of this program, the top five drug dealers in our area will be identified and targeted. When one goes to prison, another will be added to the list. Together, we can overcome this crisis but there has to be some initiative and focused effort from our law enforcement.
Our county needs Bill in the Sheriff's Office and he needs your assistance in getting the word out and getting voters to the polls during early voting (April 13-28) or on the May 3 election date. Contact us and get involved!!
Bill has already established a restructuring model for the Sheriff's Office. The new structure will allow for a focussed effort applied to areas that are currently overlooked and desperately need attention. It also will ensure proper accountability is applied which will aid in all aspects of making our Sheriff's Office a more professional, dependable and respectable organization.
As part of the S.A.F.E. program, the Sheriff's Office will establish a top five offender list of individuals who are identified as supplying drugs to our county. The offenders will be targeted with in-depth investigations until a solid, prosecutable case against the offenders is established. When one offender is off the streets, another offender will be added to the list.

Building a better department with all the experience Bill will bring to the agency will allow for a better workplace. Improving the supervision and management, while providing the proper training in the proper places, will create better cops. Deputies who are better supervised and managed, and who feel better about their department and themselves will provide a better service to the citizens they serve.
A partnership with pastors is essential in the law enforcement rhelm. Officers/Deputies often see things a human is not built to endure and pastors can be essential in assisting and guiding those afffected through the healing process. This service will be available for victims and witnesses and their families as well. The jail ministry will be expanded . The goal will be to have a list of pastors from across the county to participate in this program. Pastors are waiting to volunteer such services.
Bill views our constable system as a broken system which is in need of updating and improvements. There are tremendous liabilities, not to mention dangers, when having inadequately trained personnel assigned to carry out duties that can quickly turn deadly. We can partner with our constables and offer a program that will help train and equip them, turning the program into a benefit to the constables, law enforcement in general, our county government, and, most importantly, the citizens they serve.
Policing has always been a partnership between law enforcement and the communities they serve. Unfortunately, our Sheriff's Office is in desperate need of improved relationships with the community as well as with partnering law enforcement agencies. We will begin working on day one to establish a partnership with the communities we serve and our partner agencies which will benefit the department and the citizens tremendously.
One of the biggest divides between law enforcement and the communities is simply from a lack of understanding. Law Enforcement, generally speaking, does not ediucate the public on the realities of police work and related actions. On the other side, there are always people with an agenda to spread negative ideas about law enforcement. Usually, these ideas are built from a false narrative, however, if they continue to spread their ideas with no corrective response, the lies begin to become reality to many. A citizens academy can assist in educating the public which will assist in gaining the trust and support needed for a healthy relationship and continued support.
A small group of civillians appointed by their County Commissioners along with a group of Sheriff's Office supervision and management who will review the diciplinary process of the Sheriff's Office and make an official recommendation on each diciplinary action/non-action. The Sheriff will include the committee's recommendaion into consideration as part of the final decision process. This process assures fairness and transparency and helps with the relationship building process.
